The invention concerns a method for guiding a tool (16) relative to an espalier-trained plant using at least a conductor wire (14), characterised in that it comprises steps which consist in: generating an electromagnetic field from one of the tying wires (14) called reference wire; and adjusting, if necessary, automatically and in real time the position of the tool (16) on the basis of the measured values of the electromagnetic field.
