PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iris image pickup device that keeps the lightness of an image acquired by a camera constant without being affected by an installation environment or the like. SOLUTION: A range finder section 102 measures the distance between a camera 101 and an iris of a user and outputs its distance information. A lighting control section 111 controls a lighting section 104 on the basis of the distance information so as to increase the lighting intensity at a long distance and controls the lighting section 104 so as to decrease the lighting intensity at a short distance. Thus, the illuminance of the user is made constant independently of the long/short distance.
