PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cartridge for electric protective devices such as a switch and a circuit breaker or the like, which can improve the cutoff capacity without operating electric arc at all. SOLUTION: A cartridge A includes a cylindrical enclosed body 1 with two end plates 2, 3, and two contact points 4, 5 extending in the direction of the shaft line within a cylindrical enclosure body 1. A contact point of one side is called a movable contact point and coupled with an actuating mechanism, and slidably installed between a closing position of the contact points 4, 5 corresponding to a resting position of the device and a position which is separated from these arc contact points and in which an electric arc is formed therbetween. The electric circuit is broken by separating the contact points 4, 5. Moreover, a means is included to generate a magnetic field in the direction of the shaft line in order to diffuse the arc in the arc forming region. The cartridge A includes a means to enhance cooling of a contact material 8 in a liquid form, which flows on a contact surface 7 of the arc contact points 4, 5 during the breaking.
