<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the deterioration of heating performance as well as failing to sufficiently reduce exhaust emission due to the inability to ensure the rapid temperature rise of an engine body. SOLUTION: In the case of determining a cold engine state at present in a step 3, a lift and an operating angle are controlled to have minimum values by each variable mechanism, and the phase of a lift apex is controlled to be a phase O in a step 3. In the case of determining a light load state during warming-up in a step 5, the lift and operating angle are controlled to have the minimum values, and the phase of the lift apex is controlled onto the delay side in a step 6. In the case of determining a low-rotation high-load state in a step 7, the lift quantity and operating angle are controlled to the medium degree, and the phase of the lift apex is controlled further onto the delay side in a step 8. In the case of a high-rotation high-load region, the lift and operating angle are controlled to be large, and the phase of the lift apex is controlled onto the slightly delay side compared with the phase of the step 6, in a step 9.</p> |
