PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory camera system that reduces the weight of a supervisory camera itself so as to relieve a mechanical load and so as to provide a continuous zoom image. SOLUTION: An operator confirms a supervisory area on the basis of images of video cameras 11-13 photographing fixed wide images and then monitors a telescopic image with a video camera 15 mounted on a universal head 14. Number of turning operations of the universal head 14 is decreased and the weight of the video camera 15 itself mounted on the universal head 14 can be reduced. Thus, the supervisory camera system with a long service life and high reliability can be realized by reducing mechanical wear.
