PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary anode type X-ray tube capable of maintaining a stable rotational characteristics for a long time, by reducing abrasion produced between bearing surfaces when starting and stopping a rotating mechanism using a dynamic pressure type bearing. SOLUTION: In a rotary anode type X-ray tube equipped with a disc-shaped rotary anode 11 on which a target layer 12 to emit X-rays is formed, a rotating mechanism having a rotational body 15 and a fixed body 17 between which a dynamic pressure type sliding bearing is formed to rotatably support the disc-shaped rotary anode 11, and a vacuum envelope 10 to store the disc-shaped rotary anode 11 and the rotating mechanism, at least a part of the bearing surface provided in the fixed body 17 and the rotating body 15 is burnished.
