PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication unit and an image communication method that can change color image processing depending on detected caller telephone number information when color facsimile reception is selected. SOLUTION: In the case of conducting image communication which is able to transmit color information, the image communication unit detects a caller telephone number, registers revision of color image processing at reception or at recording depending on the detected caller telephone number and changes the color image processing depending on the detected caller telephone number when color facsimile reception is selected.
