PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction circuit which prevents the lack of data and stably controls a DVD reproducing device since it takes time for the re-reading control of data where an error is detected. SOLUTION: An error correction means 27 outputs a correction impossible signal S1 at every correction mode. A detection means for the even number of times 18, which detects correction processings for the even number of times from the value of a counter 14 controlling the correction mode of the error correction means 27 and outputs an output signal S2 is installed. When the output signal S2 is detected at the same time as the correction impossible signal S1, a re-reading instruction is outputted to a controller 6 from a re-reading instruction means 19.
