DEVICE CONSTITUTED OF PHOTODIODE AND OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which is constituted of a photodiode and an optical fiber and in which excellent connection thereof can be obtained by a simple method. SOLUTION: In the device of this invention, the photodiode PD having a photosensitive surface PS is attached onto a sub mount SM and is in contact therewith by a contacting wire GW. The photosensitive surface PS is directly attached to one end of the fiber with an optically transparent adhesive CG. The fiber OF is fixed onto a circuit substrate BD with which the contacting wire GW of the photodiode PD is connected. An adhering joint part CG between the photodiode PD and the fiber OF is only one mechanically attached part of the photodiode PD.
