PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for reactive power compensator, capable of speedily and completely compensating over a large voltage drop, if a voltage drop occurs due to some malfunctions in a generator. SOLUTION: This control method for reactive power compensator restrains voltage fluctuations developed in a power system through compensation for reactive power, by selectively closing or opening a n-group lead capacitor for the power system. If the voltage drops due to malfunctions in a generator, all the n-group phase capacitors are inserted in batch through an input signal SUP outputted from a TSC input circuit 15, based on a breaking signal SCB which serves as the detection signal of the voltage drop outputted from a breaker for the generator. |
