PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickening device of rotating drum type which has a relatively simple structure, is low-cost, is space-saving, low driving power and, moreover, exhibits a high thickening performance requires for a material to be treated having solid matter thickening of a certain extent such as mixed raw sludge, excess sludge and digested sludge. SOLUTION: This thickening device of rotation drum type is provided with a cylindrical drum 2 which is rotatably supported around a center axis O disposed approximately horizontally and has a filter part 11 on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and a thickening vessel 3 which is disposed so as to surround at least the lower part of the drum 2. On the outer periphery of the drum 2 in the thickening vessel 3, blades 12 which scrape the material P to be treated out which is supplied into the thickening vessel 3 and is filtered by a filter part 11 are interposed rotatably around the axis O.
