PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a doorway opening and closing device for an elevator car for matching an opening and closing direction to a rotation direction of a door motor 10 before opening and closing driving of a door panel 3. SOLUTION: The door motor 10 is rotated at a low speed toward a predetermined direction to drive the door panel 3, a relation between a rotation direction of the door motor and the opening and closing directions of the door panel 3 is detected based on which of a full closing position sensor 22 or a full opening position sensor 23 is operated by the door panel 3, and the door motor 10 is rotated based on the detection result in response to an opening and closing command signal from an elevator control panel 50, thereby opening or closing the doorway 2.
