PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a gradient magnetic field coil with excellent linearity. SOLUTION: In the expression of current distribution Jr and Jϕ, it is defined asϕ=0 and an optimization operation is performed so as to obtain the linearity of a gradient magnetic field required inside an area requiring coefficients Sn and Cm and a current distribution curve is obtained. In an area between the curve and a horizontal axis, the sum of the area of a positive part is isometrically divided by a winding number and the position of a winding wire is determined between division points. Then, calculation is performed over a range toϕ=90 deg. while gradually increasingϕ, the position of the winding wire is determined, the pattern of a coil is set and a conductor is arranged.
