PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner with high usability for eliminating the blow-off of dust by exhaust air from a rear part in a dead angle to a user. SOLUTION: This electric vacuum cleaner is provided with a motor-driven blower 2, a duct collecting chamber 5 communicated to the intake side of the motor-driven blower 2, a suction tool 12 for sucking the dust on a surface to be cleaned and an intake passage 8 for communicating the dust collecting chamber 5 and the suction tool 12 and a cord reel 21 is mounted to the outer periphery of the motor-driven blower 2. The exhaust 19 of the motor-driven blower 2 is inverted by the cord reel 21. By eliminating the exhaust 19 from the rear part of a main body 1, leading the exhaust 19 to the front part of the main body 1 and discharging the exhaust 19 from the front part of the main body 1, the electric vacuum cleaner with high usability is provided.
