PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the growth of material stuck to a top-blown lance in melting of an iron-containing cold material by using a converter. SOLUTION: In the melting method of the iron-containing cold material in molten iron continuously remaining system by using the converter having basic refractory structure in which the seed molten iron exists, basicity before tapping the molten iron is regulated to 1.1-1.4. The mixture of pulverized fine coal and lime powder containing 5-15 wt% pulverized fine coal as the whole or the main part is supplied by bottom blowing.
