PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a liquid leakage resistance in long-term storage under a high-humidity and high-temperature atmosphere in an alkaline battery provided with a sealing gasket having a thin safety valve. SOLUTION: As a material for the sealing gasket 7 fitted in the opening of a battery case 2, a polymer alloy consisting of a polyamide resin such as nylon 66, polyphenylether and an elastomer is used. In this way, a moisture absorbing amount is reduced while a gas permeability coefficient is increased in comparison with a sealing gasket made of nylon 66. When a polymer alloy consisting of polypropylene, polyphenylether, and an elastomer is used for the sealing gasket 7, heat resistance is improved while a creeping property is reduced in comparison with a sealing gasket made of polypropylene.
