PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with necessity of two processes consisting of a separator end bending process and a closed lid molding process and to prevent generation of wrinkles, folds, or collapse of a separator caused by application of vertical stress to it so as to solve the problems with reliability of a separator itself and others and the problems with performance and characteristics of a battery as a whole in a conventional manufacturing method arranging a closed lid by moving the cylindrical separator upward/downward and pressing the separator end to a molding die. SOLUTION: In this cylindrical separator manufacturing method for providing a highly reliable battery separator, slight stress can be applied in the bending direction and bending to the inside of the cylindrical separator can be carried out only by turning a cylindrical body and moving it in one direction at the same time to reduce vertical stress. In this method, when the cylindrical body is slid and moved up on a slant face of the molding die having the slant face while a molded end part of the cylindrical body is rotated, the end part of the cylindrical body is bent inward in the radial direction, and consequently, the closed lid part is formed in the end part of the cylindrical body.
