PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostrictive torque sensor capable of precisely detecting the torque value and being easily assembled with a small number of part items. SOLUTION: This magnetostrictive torque sensor comprises a torque transmission shaft 1 for applying a torque, a pair of magnetic anisotropic areas 1Aa and 1Ab formed on the outer surface of the torque transmission shaft, and a coil bobbin 2 arranged so as to surround the magnetically anisotropic areas 1Aa and 1Ab. A pair of exciting coils 3a and 3b and a pair of detection coils 4a and 4b are wound on the coil bobbin 2 in conformation to the magnetically anisotropic areas 1Aa and 1Ab, a magnetic shield yoke 5 for covering the exciting coils 3a and 3b and the detection coils 4a and 4b is arranged on the circumference of the coil bobbin 2, and slit grooves 2Aa and 2Ab making a round about the torque transmission shaft 1 as the central axis are formed in prescribed positions on the inside of the coil bobbin 2.
