Class 143 [Also in Group XXX] Material 16 (Fig. 1) piled on the outside of walls 7 surrounding a tower-like structure, is fed to gates 13 in the walls by a drag line scraper 20 hauled by a line 18 passing over a pulley 19. In the construction of Fig. 1 several grades of aggregate 16 are separated by partitions 15 and are fed through separate gates 13 to an automatic feed weigher 6, or to a device for measuring volumes, and is then mixed, in a mixer 1, with cement delivered from a hopper 8 by a worm 11, and with water admitted through a measuring device 10. The mixed concrete may then be delivered through a pneumatic conveyer 3 to a building site. The winch 17 for the drag scraper is mounted, with its axis vertical, above the walls 7 and may be controlled through cables 21 from handles on the drag shovel 20 which may have a tail rope; several shovels may be provided: Alternatively a single shovel 43 shown in plan in Fig. 8 can be carried by one run of an endless driving cable 42 passed round a tail pulley 44 carried by a carriage 57 moved along a rope track 56 by an endless driven cable 58. The tension in the cable 42 maybe adjusted by tackle 46 and its value indicated by a spring measuring device 47. The track 56 may be replaced by a series of endless cables on to any one of which the carriage 57 may be secured. The drag line winch may be controlled by limit switches operated by stops 61 on the cable 42 and the discharge gates 13 and the winch may be controlled by an electromagnetic, electropneumatic or hydraulic system. Steam pipes or an infra red radiator 27 (Fig. 1) may heat the stored material, and vibrators may reduce its angle of repose. |
