PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a single-ended fluorescent lamp capable of controlling the coldest point temperature without using a special means such as amalgam even in a state where ambient temperature of the lamp during lighting rises like with a sealed luminaire and enhancing brightness without increasing the cost or decreasing start characteristics. SOLUTION: Lighting frequency of a circular fluorescent lamp is specified to 35 kHz or higher, and opening parts 5 passing through in and out a base 2 are installed in the base 2 bridging both ends of a lamp tube.
