PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the content of mechanical pulp contained in a fiber assembly such as pulp or paper or material of the fiber assembly handily, and in a shorter time and accurately. SOLUTION: In the method for the measurement of the content of mechanical pulp contained in a fiber assembly or material of the fiber assembly, a sample of the fiber assembly or the material of the fiber assembly is turned into a slurry, then potassium permanganate or a bleach chemical is added to the sample to measure the consumption of the potassium permanganate and the bleach chemical added, thereby determining the content of the mechanical pulp in the sample.
