The invention concerns a system for electronic management of edited data (7) on a material support (5) associated with digital data recorded in at least a database accessible to a computer network (such as an intranet or Internet). The invention is characterised in that it consists of at least a content server (2) comprising a database (12) wherein are recorded the indexed digital data, at least an editing station for printing the data on a material support, each information being associated with an identifier (8) (bar code, in particular two-dimensional) correlated with the associated digital data index, at least a self-contained reader (4), not connected in reading phase to a client station, comprising a random access memory for recording identifiers scanned from a material support, and means for communicating with a client station, and at least a client station (3) comprising first communication means for receiving the identifiers stored by the self-contained reader, and second communication means for exchanging data with said server.
