<p>Novel expanded porphyrins wherein six or more pyrrole rings and Ar-substituted methine groups are alternately linked at the α-positions of the rings to form a macrocycle; and a process for the preparation thereof (with the provisos that Ar is 2,6-disubstituted phenyl which may further bear substituents at the 3- to 5-positions, optionally substituted 9-anthranyl, or optionally substituted cyclohexyl, that the substituents at the 2- and 6-positions are each independently selected from among halogeno, C1-4 lower alkyl, and so on, and the substituents at the 3- to 5-positions and those of the 9-anthranyl and the cyclohexyl are each independently selected not only from among those as described above for the 2- and 6-positions but also from among substituted and unsubstituted C5-6 alkyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted aryl groups, and so on, and that Ar's may be the same or different from each other).</p> |
