The invention relates to a device for cleaning the immersion pipes of vacuum degassing vessels. According to the invention, the teeth of two sprockets that verge into one another have a mutual distance ranging from 280 to 450 mm and a distance ranging from 60 to 150 mm from the respective immersion pipe of the vacuum degassing vessel.
