PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser element where generation of pulsation of optical output emitted from the laser element can be prevented, even at high output operation. SOLUTION: This laser element is a nitride semiconductor laser element, having an N-type clad layer, an active layer and a P-type clad layer. In the laser element, an optical guide layer composed of InfGa1-fN (0<=f<1) is formed at least between the active layer and the N-type or the P-type clad layer. Film thickness of the optical guide layer is at most 0.05μm. A nondoped layer which is not doped with impurities is formed at least on the N-type clad layer side or the P-type clad layer side of the active layer. The nondoped layer, which is formed on the side where the optical guide layer is formed is formed between the optical guide layer and the clad layer on the side, where the optical guide layer is formed.
