The combination of apparatus and programming is for obtainnig access to a specific screened service forming part of a computer network and comprises at least one computer connected with the network with a screened first software application installed in the computer for obtaining the desired service. A potential user (1) desires to use by means of a computer (2) of a software application (3) screened on a second computer. To do this, the user obtains a code (4). The code can be obtained by telephonic interaction (5) from a data base (6), or from a consumer product (7) with more than one code for making the product commercially interesting. It can even be obtained by a direct mailing activity (8). The data base has a computer-controlled printer or a telephone exchange. Having obtained the code, the user feeds it into the computer where access control devices (10) verify whether it can access to the desired application, such devices having a data base (11) in which usable codes are stored.
