PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium keeping recording/ reproducing characteristics excellent and having high reliability even when overwriting is carried out in the case of high-density recording/reproducing. SOLUTION: Such a stress adjusting layer 17 is arranged, as contains a metal element such as Cr as the principal component and has shrinking property (tensile stress) so that a laminated film has a columnar structure reaching from the under surface to the top surface. As a result, since the internal stress between the whole laminated film and a substrate can be made small, the deformation of the disk surface can be strained to be small and address reading errors, cross talk and erasion of the adjacent tracks can not be caused. It is possible to record/rewrite information many times in the case of high-density recording. The layer 17 rarely exerts bad influences on high-density recording, many-time recording and reliability to obtain the extremely useful information recording medium.
