The invention relates to the improvement of the functions of a grinding wheel guard in a grinding machine used to grind workpieces. The grinding machine comprises a workpiece receiving unit, a machine bed, a controlled drive unit which is connected to a grinding spindle, whereby a translatory mobile grinding wheel is rotationally driven and a cooling feed brings coolants into the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. According to the invention the grinding wheel guard (11) can be affixed to the grinding machine in relation to the machine bed (12) during a translatory movement of the grinding wheel (13). |
