PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition usable in various kind of paper, giving excellent coloring and color tone, excellent in workability, odorlessness, safety, water resistance, light resistance, fastness to environmentally pollative gases, especially to ozone, capable of giving a high recording density and high imaging quality, and suitable for an aqueous writing ink, an aqueous printing ink and an information recording ink. SOLUTION: The coloring composition comprises an oil-soluble dye association product, which is preferably formed from an oil-soluble dye compound represented by formula 1, wherein D is a group having a chromophor, Y is a polar group binding to D directly or through a bivalent group to bring about the interactions among the compounds of formula 1, and n is an integer of 2-10.
