PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver that uses a common platform in terms of the hardware and software so as to receive broadcasting and communication media. SOLUTION: Decoder cards 3 respectively corresponding to BS digital broadcasting, CS digital broadcasting and ground wave digital broadcasting can freely be connected to a reception box 1. Slots of the box 1 are entirely in common and any decoder card can be inserted to any slot. The decoder cards 3 are bus-connected by data buses 5. Furthermore, the data buses 5 are bus- connected to the decoder cards 3 by themselves. A controller 6 selects any decoder card 3 and supplies an MPEG-TS outputted from the selected decoder card 3 to a source decoder 2. The source decoder 2 decodes the supplied TS and provides an output. A user inserts a decoder card of a required medium to the reception box main body to provide a reception function of the medium to the reception box.
