PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger capable of being on-standby with no power consumption while it is continuously connected with a commercial AC power supply and concurrently conducting charging and data communication without a hitch despite of the integrated formation of a holder part with an AC adapter part. SOLUTION: This charger, including at least a built-in charging circuit, is provided with the AC adapter part 1 having an AC plug 3 connecting the charging circuit with the commercial AC power supply and a holder part 2 holding a carrying electronic apparatus 24 such as a cellular phone. The holder part 2 has a charging terminal 4 connecting the carrying electronic apparatus 24 with the charging circuit, a detecting means 21a detecting the installation of the carrying electronic apparatus 24, and a power switch 21 turned on by the detecting means 21a which has detected the installation of the portable electronic apparatus 24. The power switch 21 is formed so as to conduct switching at the connecting part of the AC plug 3 and the charging circuit.
