The actuator for a safety switch having an insert opening for the actuator, has a holder which is fastened to a part which is to be monitored with respect to its open and closed positions. The holder carries a key which is movable and which has a foot (25). On the side opposite the key is a front panel (10) with an opening and a rotatable bearing for the foot. The bearing comprises a ball segment (21) which is spring biased with its spherical surface form fitted against the edge of the opening and which is rotatable and pivotal relative to the opening. The bearing is held in an end position by a helical spring (32).
