A biodegradable molding composition (I) comprises: (A) 20-100 pts.wt. of a biodegradable polymer; (B) 0-80 pts.wt. of a mineral; and/or (C) 0-80 pts.wt. of a renewable material; (D) 0-10 pts.wt. of a flow agent; and (E) 0-10 pts.wt of other additives. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of structurally viscous, biodegradable molding compositions (I) by heating the polymer matrix above its m.pt. and intensively mixing in the filler by mechanical means using an extruder, kneader or roller; and (ii) molded articles optionally with film hinges, plant covers, disposable cutlery, casings or packaging prepared by injection molding of the composition (I).
