<p>The invention concerns a data processing system comprising a processor co-operating with a main storage unit for executing applications, the system being adapted to execute an object-oriented application consisting of a certain number of objects and links between said objects. Said system is characterised in that the number of application objects is greater than the number of objects contained in the main storage unit, and the system comprises means for selectively creating in the main storage unit, on the basis of the use of links by the application, parts of the application concerned by said links object by object or group of objects by group of objects.
