<p>A catalyst for hydrofining which comprises a porous carrier having a total pore volume of pores having a pore diameter of 60 nm or less of 0.5 ml/g or more and exhibiting a pore diameter distribution which has a broad band over a range of 8 to 30 nm of a pore diameter. The catalyst can be suitably used for hydrofining a heavy oil, and is excellent in both of desulfurization characteristics and demetallization characteristics and can retain its performance for a long period of time. The use of the catalyst in a hydrofining apparatus having a plurality of catalyst layers allows the stable operation thereof at an elevated temperature without lowering desulfurization performance and with improved demetallization characteristics.</p> |
