PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet housing device capable of effecting the receipt of a number of bank notes in the lump and decreasing in size. SOLUTION: An L-shaped partition plate 21 oscillating around a spindle 22 is supported in the vicinity of a bank note containing part 2. When carrying in bank notes, a solenoid 28 is excited, an arm member 25 is energized anticlockwise, the partition plate 21 is oscillated clockwise and a tip part 21a of the partition plate 21 is protruded in a bank note containing space 16, and in this state, the bank notes are carried in. When the solenoid 28 is demagnetized on the definite receipt of bank notes, the partition plate 21 is oscillated in an anticlockwise direction through the arm member 25 by a spring 31. The tip part 21a of the partition plate 21 slightly pushes up carried-in bank notes and is moved aside. Since push-up of the bank notes is low, a large number of bank notes can be carried in. Protrusion and moving-aside operation of the partition plate is oscillation movement, a moving aside space of a partition plate is small, and a device can decrease in size.
