PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an index device capable of increasing an angle indexing accuracy while sufficiently assuring a strength with a simple structure and being easily retrofitted on a conventional machine tool. SOLUTION: Engaged parts 21 are circumferentially formed in an index at specified angular intervalsα(=5 deg.), holding members 40 are disposed at the intervals of a vernier angle (=29 deg.) and, when an angle is indexed, either of the holding members 40 is opposed to the engaged part 21 at any residual angle (m) of 0 to 4 deg. obtained by deducting an any indexed angle by the specified angleα, and a work can be held at any index angle by locking the holding members 40 to the engaged part 21 opposed thereto.
