PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable image forming device capable of, properly taking in and out a recording material conveying unit while minimizing a separation distance between a recording material holding member such as a transfer belt and an image holding member, easy for maintenance. SOLUTION: This image forming device has a control member 1 mounted on the recording material holding member 3 at a side opposite to the image holding members 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d, for controlling the movement of the recording material holding member 3 to the image holding member side.
