PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell control system which can always run in optimum conditions by determining quickly a running parameter showing the highest energy transformation efficiency. SOLUTION: A reference electrode that consists of a reversible hydrogen electrode, is equipped near an end of at least either a fuel electrode or an air electrode equipped on both sides of an electrolyte. An electric potential difference of the reference electrode and the fuel electrode or the electric potential difference of the reference electrode and the air electrode is detected, and actuation conditions of the fuel cell are controlled based on the detection signal. It is desirable to use, for the reference electrode, a reversible hydrogen electrode which consists of a porous hydrogen diffusion layer, and to use for a fuel cell, a direct type of a solid high polymer molecule type fuel cell which supplies an oxygen-containing fuel as a direct fuel, using a solid high polymer molecule electrolyte as an electrolyte. It is desirable if, as actuation conditions, at least either concentration, an amount of supply, and supply pressure of the fuel supplied to the fuel electrode, or an amount of supply, supply pressure of air supply supplied to the air electrode, and a cell temperature, are included as control parameters. |
