Discrete lengths of a material are applied to a polymeric profiled seal. The surface of the profile is heated, then a length of the profile is unrolled and cut off and the material applied to it. An Independent claim is included for the following: (a) Apparatus for performing the above method includes a wheel. At different points on its circumference it receives a length of the material and applies it to the profile. The wheel also has two cutting zones each with symmetrically placed grippers that co-operate with a cutting tool Preferred Features: The wheel also has notches for air jets to push the material off the wheel. The profile is heated by an IR heater.
