PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of electrostatic charges in a glass substrate, to obtain uniform display in a liquid crystal display device and to make the glass substrate smoothly movable to the next process. SOLUTION: When a glass substrate 2 is released from a sucking plate 3 by pushing pins 4 for the glass, a grounded conductive electrode 1 is brought into contact with the ITO face of the glass substrate 2 to discharge the electrostatic charges generated by electrification by peeling to the ground. Thus, discharge between the ITO patterns on the glass substrate 2 due to the electrostatic charges is prevented so as to prevent damages in an alignment film. After releasing the substrate, the electrode 1 is moved upward to the position not interfering traveling of the substrate.
