PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make clearly readable the display of test results, etc., on a liquid crystal display means even under insufficient illumination. SOLUTION: The display surface of an LCD 4 is visible from the outside through a display window 24 provided for a body 21. A rectangular and flat light guiding plate 40 is arranged on the back side of the LCD 4. The light guiding plate 40 is made of a light transmitting member, formed in the shape of a rectangular flat plate, and provided with grooves 41 and 41 in which light emitting diodes LED1 and LED2 mounted on a printed circuit board 11 are arranged. The inside surfaces of the grooves 41 and 41 function as planes of incidence to introduce the light of the light emitting diodes LED1 and LED2 to the light guiding plate 40. As the LC4 is illuminated by the back light comprised of the light emitting diodes LED1 and LED2 and light guiding plate 40, it is possible to make clearly readable the display of test results, etc., on the LCD4 even under insufficient illumination. |
