PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system capable of obtaining the emitted light quantity having a large GNO. by attaching an external stroboscope, making the external stroboscope preferentially emit light and further performing two- flash light emission (multiple-flash light emission) at need, and hardly causing a red-eye phenomenon because the distance between the light emitting position of the external stroboscope and a photographing lens is comparatively long. SOLUTION: In the camera 1 to which the external stroboscope 5 is attached and which is equipped with a built-in stroboscope 2, the (GNO.1) of the stroboscope necessary for photographing is obtained based on the result of range- finding and a diaphragm value (F.NO.) at the time of attaching the external stroboscope, and the control of light emission only by the external stroboscope is performed when the (GNO.1) is within the GNO. control range of the external stroboscope, and the control of multiple-flash light emission by the built-in stroboscope and the external stroboscope is performed when the GNO. that (GNO.1) is larger than the GNO. control range of the external stroboscope, is required.
