PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera and a video camera system which can remove exclusive equipment and wiring for synchronization for audio equipment and simplify system construction. SOLUTION: A video camera system provides a video camera 101. The video camera 101 is composed of a microphone 11a, an input port 101c, a CCU 102 and an external digital audio equipment 104. The video camera 101 generates synchronization signal for external digital audio equipment EXTSYNC based on output format for audio reference signal set by external or internal switch and sends to the equipment 104. Captured image signal, analogue audio signal from the microphone 11a and external digital audio signal from the equipment 104 through the input port 101c are sent to the CCU 102 connected by single signal line.
