PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting printed boards whereby many kinds of printed boards can be inspected and, through holes or both wiring patterns and through holes can be inspected in a short time. SOLUTION: There are provided a process of bringing an inspection light from a light source 3 set on the side of one face of the printed board 8 into one end parts of through holes 84-87 formed on the printed board, a process of detecting the inspection light emitted from the other end parts of the through holes at the side of the other face of the printed board and a process of executing an inspection from a detected intensity of the inspection light on whether or not the through holes formed on the printed board are good.
