<p>A channel selection apparatus that has an improved operability realized by eliminating the necessity of CATV mode selection by the user and that provides nonerroneous detection of the existence of signals even when the frequencies of CATV broadcasts deviate. There are provided a tuner (2) for receiving an input signal from an antenna (1); demodulator means (3) for demodulating the received signal from the tuner (2); input means (6) for selecting a particular CH for the tuner (2); detector means (4) for determining the reception mode; and storing means (5) for storing the data detected by the detector means (4). With these means, a channel selection of a particular CH decided by the input means (6) is effected prior to the execution of an automatic channel setting; the reception mode and the deviation of the received frequency are determined and stored; and the stored data are used as initial data at the time of executing the automatic channel setting, thereby effecting a channel selection.</p> |
