METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE RECOVERY OF WATER FROM AN EXHAUST GAS SYSTEM

The invention relates to method and to a device for recovering, by condensation, a required amount of water from the water vapor (16) contained in the exhaust gas (2) of an internal combustion engine (3), especially for a water injection installation (4) of the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The condensed water (1) is guided in a conduit system (5) and is stored in a container (6). The required amount of water is condensed from the exhaust gas by means of a condenser device (7) that has an average efficiency of condensation of at least 25 %, preferably at least 50 %, across the entire operation range of the internal combustion engine. The inventive method and device provide a means with which the provision of additional water in a separate and refillable tank can be avoided and which allows for a reliable recovery of water from the exhaust gas.
