The aid has a hip belt (1) with parts (6-8) fixed to it to support the upper body of the handicapped person. Clamps (16) are provided, which engage the inside and outside of the belt from above and have a soft cushion (15) facing the body. The clamps are supported in the hip bone area and hold the parts to support the upper body. The clamps are preferably in one part and extend between the hips.
