PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial method for producing an ester of a 1-alkyl-5- substituted pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid in which the ester of the 1-alkyl-5- substituted pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid is selectively obtained from an ester of acylpyruvic acid in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the ester of the 1-alkyl-5-substituted pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid is characterized as the ester of the acylpyruvic acid is reacted with an aqueous solution of an alkylhydrazine in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid at 40-140 deg.C.
