PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To nearly uniformize the height of a material applied on a surface to be coated by correcting the distortion of the surface to be coated of a work. SOLUTION: A material coating device 10 is constituted so as to be provided with a surface position adjusting means including a frame member 21 capable of being surrounded along the periphery of the surface A to be coated and an elevating part 23 for elevating an installation bed 19. A projecting piece 47 capable of being brought into contact with the work W when the installation bed 19 is elevated by the elevating part 23 is formed on a frame member 21. Being transported below the frame member 21, the work W is elevated toward the frame member 21 with the installation bed 19 by the elevating part 23. The work W is elevated, a part of the work W is brought into contact with the projecting piece 47 and as a result, a prescribed pressing force acts on the surface A to be coated to keep the surface A to be coated nearly horizontal.
